The Interact Project, co-funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Programme of the European Union, is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the multifaceted vulnerabilities faced by women experiencing homelessness or living under precarious conditions. Running from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2027, this 36-month project is coordinated by Syndesmos Melon Gynaikeion Somateion Irakleioy Kai Nomoy Irakleioy – UWAH in Greece.

Objectives

The Interact Project aims to:

  1. Offer Sustainable Solutions: Develop a multidisciplinary support network to catalyze positive change for women in vulnerable situations.
  2. Promote Trauma-Informed Approaches: Ensure support services are sensitive to the diverse and often traumatic experiences of women.
  3. Enhance Understanding of Intersectionality: Address the intersectionality of homelessness, substance abuse, intimate partner violence, and mental health issues.
  4. Prevent Homelessness: Implement effective support schemes to minimize the risk of exposure to violence.

Target Groups

The project focuses on:

  • Women experiencing homelessness or living under precarious conditions.
  • Stakeholders in the fields of homelessness, substance abuse, intimate partner violence, and social support.
  • Decision-makers in social policy.
  • The general public as an indirect target group.

Expected Outcomes

  • Intervention Model: Create and pilot an intersectionality-based intervention model.
  • Programme Participation: Increase the number of women entering (target: 400) and completing (target: 200) the programme.
  • Training Material: Design training materials on intersectionality, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and multiagency collaboration.
  • Capacity Building: Train up to 300 professionals in the project’s domains.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Involve 60 stakeholder organizations.
  • Advocacy and Communication: Reach around 10,000 people through communication activities and conduct 60 advocacy meetings.
  • Policy Recommendations: Compile lessons learned to inform policy recommendations.

Budget

The total budget for the Interact Project is €4,330,843.19, with a maximum EU contribution of €3,897,758.89 (90%).
